Dodgers Saga

Have you been keeping up with the Dodgers lately? Every morning I turn on the news as I eat my breakfast, and it seems like the whole saga is never ending. First the divorce, then the Bryan Stow case, and then MLB takes over, and now the bankruptcy! Ahhh, so heartbreaking!!!! I blame you Frank McCourt for driving the legendary Dodgers into bankruptcy! How embarrassing... tsk tsk tsk
Here we are at the game last year on my birthday (Joan is taking the picture)

I want to keep the tradition alive where I take my girlfriends out to a ballgame for my birthday, but I'm really debating whether I should do that this year. I don't want to go to a game w/ Frank McCourt in the mix. But I still have another month to debate that over... Will you be watching the Dodgers play the Angels this weekend?

Bestfriends

Say hello to my bestfriends! (going clockwise, it's Jessica, Hanna, Me, and Joan) We all met yesterday for Jessica's birthday dinner at Lucielles. It's really rare that all 4 of us get to hang out, so it's super nice when we're all together.  Even do we come from similar backgrounds and culture, we are all SO different and are all at different points in our lives! I'm reminded of that every time all four of us are together, but I think that's why we're able to stay best friends for this long. All our different personalities, hobbies, and stories make our relationship even that much more special and I love each of them dearly. xoxo

Amateur Blogger

I'm still very new to blogging. One of my main reasons that I started blogging was so that I can have a digital journal with me. I think it'll be fun and interesting to read my posts in the next couple of years. So anyways, even when I go out, I still forget to take pictures of things to blog about. For example... this Saturday my family including my relatives went to Grand Lux Cafe for dinner to celebrate my cousin's graduation. I realized after finishing our meal, that I should have taken pictures of the meal to post on here! Luckily, I remembered to snap some family pictures outside. This place is gorgeous inside and out!
My cousin Ji-Hee, my aunt, and my cousin Ji-Eun 언니
Congratulations 언니!
I wish I took pictures of the food so that I can provide critiques on the actual dishes, but it's okay. I consider myself and amateur blogger, so I know there will be plenty of more opportunities. P.S- I'm still in shock I was wrong about the Playoffs!!! The Mavs did play well, but poor Lebron!

Pizza and Playoffs

I am a pizza fanatic. I literally go to Pizza Hut or Papa Johns twice a week. But it gets really pricey and fattening, so I looked up couple recipes online and finally made a homemade pizza.
It's half margherita (for me), and half jalapeño/onion (for mom).
Pizza and Playoffs! What a great night!!!

Excited for game 5. I think it'll end 3-4 Miami. We will see... we will see.

New Hobby

One new hobby I'm trying to pick up this summer is hiking. It's a workout, it's fun, and it's free! Me and one of my best friend Hanna is trying to do it at least once a week. This week would be week number 2, and we decided to go to Fullerton Arboretum. I remember this place being big and gorgeous, but now that I actually went here again, it's only gorgeous. And it wasn't much of a hike either b/c the ground was mainly leveled, but it was still fun! If you're ever at Cal State Fullerton, you should stop by here for a walk. It's located right next to the baseball stadium. After our "hike", we went to The Original Pancake House in Fullerton for breakfast!

Hello Fullerton Arboretum
Hanna doesn't like the sun. Can you tell?

Cute little ducks!!!
I think this was called Three Little Pigs? lol Hanna's dish... not mine.
This was my plate! Chocolate Chip Pancakes!!!  YUMMM

1 Year Anniversary

Yesterday marked my dad's 1 year anniversary. Exactly one year ago from yesterday, my dad was rushed to the ER b/c of numbing sensations on his legs. After a full day of MRI, X-ray, and CT scan, we found out he had two massive tumors in his lungs that had begun invading his thoracic bones. The next morning, he was rushed to radiation therapy, and that's when the oncologist told me had lung cancer. Nothing can prepare you for experiencing a loved one go through cancer. I don't think people understand how common cancer is. One out of two men, and one out of three women will be diagnosed with cancer (according to American Cancer Society Statistics from 2003), and I can only imagine those numbers increasing due to all the harsh chemicals we're exposed to on a daily basis. Prevention and early detection is key! But due to my dad's amazing progress, my mom and I decided to throw a small 1-Year Anniversary Party for him.

Ever since my dad's diagnosis,  he sticks to a meat-free diet. But I let him choose whatever he wanted to eat for that day and he chose this, 족발 (pig's feet). I know, ewww...
I was in charge of the cake, so I picked out a coffee cake from Trader Joes! YUM!!!
I love my daddy!

Today, we went to the oncologist for our monthly follow-up, and great news followed. The cancer is mostly gone, and the Dr. said we only need to come in every two-months for a follow up now. Ah, praise God. It was so surreal for me to be at the hospital and think about how much things have changed from last year. As crazy and hard this past year has been, it has really been a blessing for me to be able to go through this with my family. My dad is so strong and inspirational and I love him so much!

Memorial Day Weekend

My dad growing up had 3 best friends just like me! One of them is a cancer survivor and dedicated his life to become a pastor (i had a crush on him growing up!) Another one is trying to balance family and work. And lastly, one is another happily married pastor living in the quiet town of Salinas. All three of them grew up together in Korea, and still K.I.T after all these years! I know my best friends and I will be the same way, but I'm so curious how our own life will turn out in the next twenty years. I have a rough blueprint for those upcoming years, but I know life is FULL of surprises, so I won't be surprised if my life is completely different from my "blueprint". And as much as that annoys me, I know in the end God is always there and I can find peace in that.

Anyways, once in a blue moon, our family and I visit my dad's best friend in Salinas. The pastor has 2 sons similar in age w/ me and my brother so when they used to live in LA, our family pretty much grew up with this family, so its no surprise that we felt right at home here.  Our 2day-1night trip was nice with lots of rest. And on the way back, we visited Solvang!!! It was packed since it was Memorial Day weekend, so we just walked around the block, grabbed dinner/dessert, and headed home. Nevertheless, it was a nice family trip.

6 hr road-trip! What would we do w/o the GPS on our phone?

Ate here for dinner
I ordered pasta, my parents ordered veggie sandwich, but we swapped meals after tasting LOL
YAY for Solvang!
