Song of the Day

임재범- 너를 위해 I was shocked to hear this coming out of my parent's bedroom because I remember loving it during my jr. high/high school years! Apparently they were watching this show called 나는 가수다 (which is a big hit in Korea right now), that made them want to search up this song. Songs like this, and artists like 임재범 can never get too old and fits everybody's taste...

So what am I doing on this Saturday night? Studying for the GRE and eating Papa John's extra cheese pizza, while watching the Dodgers game. Can't get more exciting than this!

Hello and Goodbye

Last week, two of my aunts came to visit from out of state, Aunt Helen and Aunt Kay. I never refer to them by their names... I always call all of my aunts by "emo", which means aunt in Korean. They came for the weekend to visit my grandpa. It is a treat living close to my grandpa in LA, because we always have relatives coming from all over!
Say hello to Aunt Helen and Aunt Kay! I always love seeing my aunts, especially because my mom gets really happy to see her sisters. It was definitely fun while they were here.

My grandpa and brother joining in on all the fun photo mix!

My two beautiful aunts!

There's something about a family that is irreplaceable and I love that! Whether it's my immediate family or extended family members, it's just great to have people there for you through thick and thin. xoxo

BLUE Velvet Cupcakes

Couple Saturdays ago, I attended a surprise baby shower for a soon to be first time mother. She is expecting a boy, and I thought... what a perfect time to bake something yummy for the shower!!! And to keep the theme of a boy baby shower, I decided to to do Blue Velvet Cupcake!

I used this recipe here for the cake but I used color dye instead of color paste (which was probably why my cake isn't as royal blue).

Baked in the oven at 325 degrees for 25 minutes and VIOLA!
For the cream cheese frosting, you cannot go wrong w/ Paula Dean's!!!
All ready to go!! Can you guess which one was for me? Heheee

The Blue Velvet Cupcake was a success at the baby shower! I'll post up pictures of the actual baby shower and how pretty all the setup was soon. Can't wait to whip up something again in the kitchen!

Hitting for the Cycle!

On Tuesday, I got to go to Home Run Park with my brother and dad. Home Run Park is a batting cage in Anaheim, and only a mile away from my house. I love watching baseball, but getting to actually bat myself was a totally different experience. We had such a good time, definitely a good place to take out aggression!

It's only a dollar for 12 pitches (which does go by in less than a minute), and has different batting cages with different ball speeds. My brother was in the 80 mph batting cage, and me and my dad stuck with the 40-50 mph. The batting cages range from 90 mph to softball slow pitches, so it is literally fit for all levels. And on top of that, it is such a good workout! My upper body was so sore all day yesterday!! I am definitely going to make this a once a week activity! So fun!!!

Single

Double
Triple
Home Run!!!

Hitting for the Cycle, single-double-triple-home run! Sigh, I want to go again!!

Big Brother

Today has been a bittersweet day for me. I got to see my bestfriends (minus Joan), but I was really stressed all day thinking about having to take the GRE tomorrow. I woke up early to study in the morning, took a break by going to the batting cage nearby (will have a post on that soon!), studied at Coffee Bean, had dinner at Olive Garden, and attempted to study again at TenRens. BUT, the more I studied, the more I realized that I was definitely not ready at all to take this exam. I came home disappointed and stressed that I was unable to prepare myself for this exam, but after having a good talk with my brother, I was able to take all this negative energy into refocusing myself to take the GRE again when I am ready (hopefully in a month or two). My brother always has this calm energy, and anytime I feel stressed, I can talk to him and I always feel better. One of the perks of having an older sibling! xoxo
Love you oppa!
Don't we look alike? :)

Ready to get a good night sleep, and do the best I can for tomorrow's exam. Good night!

Song of the Day

Keith Urban, the artist who got me into country music! Obsessed with his song, Right on Back to You. His songs just never get old to me. My GRE is coming up on Wednesday and I am the least amount prepared. I'm reassured b/c I know I can "retake" it, but it is an expensive exam (which I can't even reschedule now b/c it's too late). Just planning on studying all I can today and tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Proud Auntie!

Shame on me for not keeping up with my blog posts. Last week has been the busiest I have been this whole summer vacay. My brother is officially here for the summer from Texas, I started my job as a piano teacher, my cousins and my cutest little neice came to visit for couple of days, and we had VBS at my church! Whew, what a week! I have no excuses for falling behind on my blog though, and hopefully it doesn't happen again!

Anyways, my cousin and her husband just had their first daughter, name Olivia Jun- Slangen so they came to visit from San Francisco. I was so excited to see my little neice for the first time and she was soooo beautiful!!! They were only here for 3 days, so the majority of the time was spent with our grandpa. But they are huge baseball fans, so we made sure to squeeze in a night to go see a ballgame. As much as my brother and I wanted to take them to a Dodgers game, we had to settle for the Angels due to traffic reasons.

I was so shocked to see how NICE Angels stadium was.
Angels vs. Tigers (Angels won 1-0 btw)
Little Livi enjoying the ballgame!
Proud great-grandpa
Proud auntie!

It's no secret that I love little babies, and I can't wait to be able to start a family of my own. But, I was reminded that it's definitely a lot of work and I am in no rush starting that chapter of my life just yet, nor am I even prepared to. LOL I already miss my little Livi. Isn't she just the cutest little thing!?
